Programs Used: Adobe Photoshop
"Canvas" is a fully original webcomic, written and illustrated by myself in Photoshop, and available on Webtoon Canvas.
The concept for this webcomic came from an idea to put the thoughts that can prevent us from creating in a visual format, with the idea for the name of the main antagonist "Resistance" coming from Steven Pressfield's Do The Work.
This project was also a chance for me to experiment. At first, I tried using Adobe Illustrator to create the comic, before realizing that Photoshop was a much better option due to the greater freedom with brushes and the fact it wouldn't have to load for a full five minute in the middle of a brush stroke since Photoshop doesn't use vectors.
While I had intended for there to be more, I realized during Canvas' creation that I simply would not have the time. So, I pivoted the story of Chapter 1 towards that exact point - sometimes you won't have the time. Whether this is due to a deadline or some outside circumstances limiting your chances to work on what you want, oftentimes you won't be able to make something as big or as grand as you had originally intended.
Then again, who says that your work needs to be perfect? Every work is a chance to learn and improve, to become better. Even if you don't consider it "finished", you can always come back and make it better in the future, using the lessons you've learned through trial-and-error to be able to create as you wish. So, amidst all the other projects I'll need to work on in the future, more will become of this comic when I'm able to find the time for it.
